One year ago, the US Supreme Court made the shocking decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Even when Roe was in place, many people struggled to access abortion care—especially those marginalized by systemic racism and economic insecurity. But since Roe fell, trigger bans and new bans have quickly decimated abortion rights and access across the country.
What does abortion access look like now?
Abortion is banned in 13 states.
Abortion care is unavailable in Wisconsin and 6 states are enforcing bans that would have been blatantly unconstitutional under Roe.
Tens of thousands of people have been denied abortion care.
The past 12 months have been chaotic and confusing, especially for the patients and providers forced to navigate an ever-shifting legal landscape to seek and provide essential care.
This is unacceptable, and we deserve better. We need federal and state policymakers to step up to protect and expand abortion access for all.
